WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BATTERY RECYCLING?

1. What are the benefits of recycling batteries?

Recycling them helps the environment and reduces consumer costs.

2. How do heavy materials get into the water supply?

Heavy metals from batteries that end up in landfills leach through the ground into the water supply

3. How do they pollute the air?

When batteries are incinerated releases some heavy metals into the air

4. How is sulfuric acid dangerous?

These toxic chemicals from leaching through the soil and into the water supply

5. What battery materials are reusable?

Button batteries contain valuable metals, such as silver and zinc. Recycling batteries permits reuse of plastic and metals, which reduces the demand for raw materials.

Wind Power

WIND POWER

In México We have 3 sources of energy: Fossil Energy, Renewable Energy and Nuclear Energy. The main source of energy is the Fossil Energy, 73.6 %. Mexico has 23.6 % share of renewable energy, including hydro, wind and geothermal. Finally, Mexico has 2.4 % share of nuclear energy. For Wind, Mexico has 2 Wind Farms: “Parque Eólico La Venta” and “Guerrero Negro”, in Oaxaca, on shore. Mexico is the world's twenty fourth biggest producer of wind power.

The advantages of winder power: Wind energy is friendly to the surrounding environment, as no fossil fuels are burnt to generate electricity from wind energy. Wind turbines take up less space than the average power station. Windmills only have to occupy a few square meters for the base, this allows the land around the turbine to be used for many purposes, for example agriculture. The disadvantages of winder power: The main disadvantage regarding wind power is down to the winds unreliability factor. In many areas, the winds strength is too low to support a wind turbine or wind farm, and this is where the use of solar power orgeothermal power could be great alternatives. Wind turbines generally produce allot less electricity than the average fossil fuelled power station, requiring multiple wind turbines to be built in order to make an impact.

-Light pollution: is excessive or obtrusive artificial light
-Litter: Litter consists of waste products that have been disposed of improperly, without consent, in an inappropriate location.
-Noise pollution: Noise pollution is excessive created environmental noise that disrupts the activity or balance of human or animal life.
-Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies. Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.
-Thermal pollution: Thermal pollution is the degradation of water qualityby any process that changes ambient water temperature.

3.      Which are the greenest cities in the world? Reykjavik.

a)     Where?  Iceland's capital
b)     What are they doing? The city is run entirely on green power.
c)     How are they doing it? It is run with geothermal and hydroelectricity power, while the transport system in the city uses entirely hydrogen.
